Dining: City Café To Go
Ladies who Lunch..and Their Little Ones
VIBE: Nearly always filled with lunching ladies on-the-go, this quick lunch stop offers excellent food to enjoy in its small, but still airy, space, or to go. Little girls are often seen dining with their mothers in the summer months and during time off from school.
WHY IT’S TOT FRIENDLY: With an extensive menu of classic and not-so-normal dishes, there’s inevitably a palate-pleasing meal for the kids. If you choose to dine-in with your little one(s), all the chatting from the lunching ladies helps to mask the occasional outburst.
BE SURE TO TRY: The Asian Chicken salad is a must to try for moms. A perennial favorite, the salad is light and fresh with plenty of flavor from the dressing and shredded chicken. Also not to miss are t
he “crunchies” that come with your salad. For the kids, the chicken salad sandwich is always a great choice, paired with a cup of fruit — a healthier alternative to the usual potato chips. If you feel like an occasional indulgence, the Blum’s Cake is fabulous and rich. Try the Berry Angel Food cake for a lighter and fruitier sweet fix.
GOOD TO KNOW: If you plan on taking your feast to go, call ahead so you don’t have to wait. Their space is small, so trying to find a spot to wait out of the way can be challenging.
BEST TIME TO GO WITH KIDS: If you prefer to avoid the crowd (and occasional wait), go early or late during the lunch rush (at 11am or after 1pm). Anytime after that is a great time to go for a snack or to pick up dinner.
