Dining: Tasti D-Lite
Afterschool Special
Vibe: It’s not ice cream. It’s not custard. It’s Tasti D-Lite, and it has invaded Dallas by way of New York. Tasti offers 100 flavors (which rotate) of simple, soft-served frozen desserts in its University Park outlet. Known for its health-conscious outlook, Tasti D-Lite’s tiny, pink shop serves up cool, low-fat treats by the scoop.
Why it’s tot-friendly: Tasti’s treats are all low fat, free of artificial sweeteners, and have less than 100 calories per serving. So, mom can
feel good about providing this treat, and sampling some herself. Be sure to try: With 100 flavors, we suggest not stopping until you’ve tried them all. Toppings like fresh fruit or rainbow sprinkles will spice up any scoop. Good to know: The standard serving size is four fluid ounces, so you can be sure you’re not blowing your diet, or overloading the kids on sweets. Best times to go with kids: Take the carpool for an excellent (maybe unexpected!) after-school snack.
