Dining: Bin 555
How Sophisticates Lull the Kiddies

The difference between the men and the boys and women and the girls is the size of the whirl in their swirls. Thus is the great sophisticated family dining dilemma. How do the guardians sip and chew a great cab or pucker a searing sauvignon blanc while rolling grains of risotto across their palates while maintaining sufferable kiddy equilibrium? Most of the time you can’t, which is why Purple Cows roam the North Texas prairie roping parents not with wine lists and lusty cubes of duck liver pate, but with spiked milkshakes.
Bin 555 Restaurant & Wine Bar is different. It has a spry global wine list with a break-out quotient of 55 wines at $55, making clever use of all of those fives. Bin 555 has a deft “rustic-Tuscan” menu crafted by rising star chef Jason Dady of the lauded Lodge Restaurant in San Antonio. Dady’s work—lemon risotto, asparagus Milanese, Texas quail, lush veal meatballs--is goaded with a kids lounge menu top-heavy with hand-breaded chicken tenders, grilled cheese sandwiches cum fries, mac and cheese, and so on.
But more important than all of this, Bin 555 has a kid’s lounge packed with TV's that that hypnotize with the latest kiddy movie features, an Xbox 360, Wii and Playstation game consoles, and three computers wired with controlled internet access. So sip and savor and converse over sirloin and pork loin and caprese while the kids squeal with delight over their expanding midget attention spans--thus expanding your joy.
Bin 555 Restaurant & Wine Bar, 104 S Denton Tap Road, Coppell 75019, 972-393-7555. Open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday & Saturday.
